Care and Handling:
This high quality stoneware is meant for everyday use. Crack, chip, and scratch resistant, Polish Pottery can withstand the duties of the most demanding chef. You can cut on it without damaging the surface, and the colors will not fade. Best of all, this premium cookware distributes heat evenly, and retains both hot and cold temperatures for an extended period of time. The glaze allows foods to release with little or no oil, and clean up is a breeze. Care should be taken to allow the piece to reach room temperature when going from the extreme of the refrigerator/freezer to the oven, as extreme temperature change will crack the pottery. When cooking high fat foods, it is suggested that you place a small amount of water in the bottom of the dish as this also protects your investment.
We take great care in shipping your stoneware. Each piece is hand wrapped, double boxed, and protected with bubble wrap and packing peanuts. As with all of our products, Eve's Gift Gallery offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
Creative Process:
Boleslawiec stoneware originated as folk art in the early 1800s. Today, in the small village of Boleslawiec Poland, skilled artisans are creating the world's most sought-after stoneware designs made of white clay found only in this region. Fired at 2200°C, this pottery is non-porous and non-toxic, with a high glazed sheen that speaks to it's quality. By meticulously cutting nature-inspired shapes into dried sea sponges from the Mediterranean Sea, the artist hand-applies the designs in a continuous stamping rhythm until the Traditional Pattern layer is complete. The Unikat (Unique) Pattern offers more intricate designs and adds hand painted brush strokes, resulting in a finished piece that is certain to become a collector's item. Polish Pottery is handmade throughout the entire creation process and demands deep appreciation. Displaying well deserved pride, Polish Pottery pieces are stamped with the initials of the artist and the emblem of the factory in which they were created. Unikat designs are marked with the artist's name (often hand signed), and when available, an artist's profile with a picture and detailed notes from the artist is included.
Below is a twelve minute video that illustrates the entire creation process. We highly recommend watching this video as you embark on becoming a collector of Polish Pottery. We will continuously add new pieces, including place settings and more.
